Dr Foulkes extended the Fellowship to Israel in 1982 where it is administered by the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Jerusalem. Dr Ernest Foulkes was awarded the Gold Independence Coin in 1985 for scientific achievement in Israel.

The Advisory Panel in Israel is responsible for selecting their Fellows, using the same scrutiny as the UK Panel. The current chair is Prof Gideon Rechavi, who received the Israel Prize in Medical Research in 2020. One of the original Advisors on the Israeli Panel was Prof Ephraim Katzir, President of the State of Israel from 1973 to 1979.
